Website Cost in India 2026: What You'll Actually Pay (Real Numbers from 200+ Projects)
Website pricing in India is notoriously opaque. Every agency gives wildly different quotes, and freelancer pricing on Fiverr ranges from ₹500 to ₹50,000 for what sounds like the same thing. This guide breaks down exactly what you pay for — and what you shouldn't.
Landing pages (₹5,000 – ₹25,000)
A landing page is a single URL designed to convert visitors into leads or customers. Most businesses in India should start here, not with a full website.
What ₹5,000 gets you: A template-based page on Wix, Webflow, or WordPress. Someone else's design, your logo and text slotted in. Works for early-stage startups testing demand.
What ₹15,000–25,000 gets you: Custom design, proper copywriting, mobile-optimized layout, lead capture form integrated with your email, basic SEO on-page setup. This is where most MSMEs should invest.
Red flag: Anyone charging ₹50,000+ for a landing page without specific justification (custom animations, A/B testing infrastructure, CRM integration) is overcharging.
Business websites (₹25,000 – ₹80,000)
A 5–15 page site covering services, about, contact, testimonials, and case studies. This is the most common deliverable we build.
₹25,000–40,000 tier: Template-based (Elementor, Divi, or starter theme). Good enough for service businesses that need a digital presence but don't expect the site to be their primary lead source.
₹40,000–80,000 tier: Custom design, professional copy, proper SEO setup, speed-optimized (Core Web Vitals), analytics integrated, content management system so you can edit yourself. This is what we typically recommend.
Timeline: 2–4 weeks from brief to launch with a cooperative client.
E-commerce (₹50,000 – ₹3,00,000)
Pricing here varies massively based on product count, payment integrations, and inventory complexity.
₹50,000–1,00,000: Shopify or WooCommerce with standard features. Up to 100 products, 1-2 payment gateways (Razorpay, Stripe), basic shipping logic.
₹1,00,000–2,00,000: Custom design, inventory sync with offline systems, multi-vendor or multi-currency, GST-compliant invoicing, COD management, advanced analytics.
₹2,00,000–3,00,000+: Headless commerce (Next.js + Shopify API), custom checkout flows, membership tiers, subscription billing, multi-warehouse inventory.
What's NOT included in most quotes
Agencies quote "website price" but these costs are separate and ongoing:
- Domain (.in, .com): ₹800–₹1,500/year
- Hosting: ₹2,000–₹20,000/year depending on traffic
- Content writing: ₹3–₹15 per word for professional writers
- Product photography: ₹500–₹5,000 per product
- SSL certificate: Usually free via Let's Encrypt
- Email marketing: ₹500–₹5,000/month (Mailchimp, Brevo)
- Maintenance: ₹3,000–₹20,000/month (updates, security, backups)
Hidden "cheap" costs
The ₹5,000 website looks like a steal until you realize:
- No source code ownership — you can't migrate away from their platform
- Hosting locked to them — typically 3-5x market rate
- Extra pages cost ₹500-2,000 each — adds up fast as you grow
- No SEO foundation — expensive to retrofit later
- Stock images everywhere — makes your brand look generic
Always ask upfront: "Do I own the code and can I move hosts?" The answer determines if you're buying a website or renting one.
What determines the actual price
Six factors:
- Custom design vs. template — 3-5x multiplier
- Number of pages — each custom page adds ₹2,000–₹8,000
- Custom features — booking systems, calculators, filters
- Integrations — payment, CRM, WhatsApp, email
- Content — who writes and photographs
- Revisions — most agencies cap at 2-3 rounds
Realistic budget for different business stages
Solo founder / side project: ₹10,000–₹20,000 (landing page + blog) Early-stage startup: ₹30,000–₹60,000 (business site + blog + CRM) Established MSME: ₹50,000–₹1,50,000 (full site + content + SEO setup) Scaling business: ₹1,50,000–₹5,00,000 (custom everything, ongoing SEO/marketing) Enterprise: ₹5,00,000+ (custom apps, integrations, dedicated team)
How to get accurate quotes
- Write a brief — 1 page describing goals, pages needed, must-have features
- Ask 3 vendors — one cheap, one mid-tier, one premium
- Compare line items — don't just look at the total
- Ask for past work links — see real projects, not just screenshots
- Start small — landing page first, scale after traction
The biggest mistake we see: spending ₹1 lakh on a perfect website before validating demand. Build a ₹10,000 landing page, test with ads for ₹5,000, then decide if you need the bigger site.
